Ussery Construction Let Our Next House Be Yours
Reviews
My wife, Mary, and I bought our Brevard home in 2004. From the initial purchase to the present day, our experience with Mr. Ussery has been nothing but positive. From the start, our relationship was built on trust. We were still living in California at the time of the purchase, and we relied on Mick to do the upgrades to the lower deck and side landscaping after the house had been paid for. Our trust was well-rewarded. Not only did Mick do the specified work, he went on to make some improvements that he deemed necessary and did not charge extra for them. I'd have to say that's unusual in this day and age. Over the years, the home has proved to be well-designed and well-built. At the time of the sale, Mick assured us that we could call him if we had any questions about the house, and we have had several occasions to do so. He's given us advice on the electrical system and plumbing and two years ago he removed a tree that was threatening the deck after a heavy storm. This year, Mick installed a center island in our kitchen, Again, the work could not have been better. He kept scrupulous records of time and materials, completed the job on time, and all with a minimum of disruption to our lives. Our experience with Mick Ussery has been positive on every level. He's honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, and personable. As for integrity, I'd regard his handshake as an ironclad contract. -- Jim Grodnik

If you are seeking an honest, dependable, experienced contractor, Mick Ussery is your man. After much searching, Bill and I found the perfect lot with a long-range mountain view, and now we have the house of our dreams, thanks to Mick and a local architect. Mick was constant in over-seeing the construction, as well as working alongside the trim carpenters on the stained wood trim, wood ceilings and beams. He enhanced the construction with improvements we had not even considered. The craftsmanship is exceptional, and we couldn't be happier with our home in the mountains. I would also like to add, that Mick's job hasn't ended there, as he still checks on us to make sure all is well with us and our home. -- Elly and Bill Davis

When my husband and I first came to Brevard, NC, we bought our first house in Connestee Falls from Mick Ussery. The house was everything we were looking for except the basement wasn’t finished. Because we were unfamiliar with workmen in area Mick arranged to have the work completed. Mick is a very fair businessman and a knowledgeable contractor who is easy to work with and very responsive to the needs of the homeowner. Through the 15 years that we lived in our house in Connestee we watched other properties being built, many with water runoff problems. That’s because many builders from outside the area don’t know how to build houses in the mountains. Over time we came to appreciate Mick’s knowledge of how to build a mountain home. He had installed a French drain in front of the house and another drain in front of the garage to move water around the house into the stream behind it. In 15 years we had never had a water problem in our house. If you are looking for a reliable contractor to build your home you can’t go wrong with Mick Ussery. -- Mary Murphy

Robin and I purchased the home built by Mick Ussery at 2 Tisdivna, Connestee Falls community, in November 2002. We were attracted to the home for many reasons, but our primary reason for purchasing this home was the craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the home. This is a testimonial to the high standards and the passion for building from Mr. Ussery. As well, after we moved into the home, Mr. Ussery provided great customer service and was always very professional. I would recommend a Mick Ussery built home to anyone moving into the Western North Carolina area. -- Sonny Aldy

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Ussery when I contracted to have him build my personal home in 2008. I recommend him highly, not only as a builder, but as a person. Throughout the entire building of my home, Mr. Ussery worked as a professional, provided all of the paperwork to document the expenses, and completed a beautiful, high quality home. I have seen several of the homes he has built in the past and found them all to be structurally sound. He has proven himself to be a very competent and ethical individual. Most impressively, he has survived the building recession and did so by limiting his projects and managing his business wisely. -- Karen Edwards

My husband Bruce and I were looking for a home closer to town with one floor living and room for a basement workshop to accommodate his framing business. Bruce met Mick on a walk in our neighborhood when Mick was finishing a new home. Bruce described our vision and Mick immediately mentioned a few lots that might work for new construction. Plus, he had a home design that we really liked. He helped us select the lot and built a great house that we enjoy every day. Mick is easy to work with, constructs a high-quality home, and the complete process was quite amenable. -- Joan Van Orman
